We are often asked “why Architecture 311.5?”. When the firm was established by Kris Contor in January of 1993 the address at the time was 311-1/2 North First, hence the moniker Architecture 311.5. The practice has grown over the last 18 years and while we are currently in a new location the name has endured.

Our approach to architecture focuses on the uniqueness and potential of each commission, with a belief that the site, function, context and goals of each client will combine to determine the most creative, balanced solution. This has given us the scope and experience to pursue both residential and commercial work of varying scale, character and types. Our portfolio includes work as divergent as historic renovations, corporate offices and custom homes, often very different in architectural style, but representative of client preferences, and needs.

Over the intervening years the practice has grown to include projects in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Montana and California. Our technical abilities have also grown to include Auto-CAD and 3D modeling. Still, we enjoy and value the core aspect of working with individuals to realize their visions in a timely and efficient manner.
