Your dream is unique, let's bring it to life.
Architecture should adapt. Our goal is to focus on the unique potential of your dream home.
We believe that your style, your site and your goals will inspire a creative, balanced solution.

Our design process:
Initial Client Meeting
We are exited to sit down with you and listen! We want to hear about your goals for the project, your style, and your concerns. If there are some photos of other projects that inspire you, we want to see them. We will discuss your budget and your site. Once we have a full picture of your vision for the project, we can start to develop a design.
Schematic Phase
The next phase of the project is to create a simplified representation of the design concepts we discussed together. For example: How do the rooms of your home fit together? How will the flow of the home fit your lifestyle? How would the home be positioned on your site for the best view and light in each space? We communicate these ideas with simplified 3D models and sketches. These will become more complete as your vision comes into focus.
Design Development
It is very exciting to see your project move to the next level, as we choose colors and windows and doors, exterior materials and structural systems: Integrating these into CAD drawings and more detailed 3D models.
Construction Drawings
Finally, all of your selections come together in technical drawings that can be used to submit to your city or county. These drawings can be used in bidding, and after we receive your building permit, in Construction of your home.
We are often asked “why Architecture 311.5?”. When the firm was established by Kris Contor in January of 1993 the address at the time was 311-1/2 North First, hence the moniker Architecture 311.5. The practice has grown over the last 18 years and while we are currently in a new location the name has endured.
Our approach to architecture focuses on the uniqueness and potential of each commission, with a belief that the site, function, context and goals of each client will combine to determine the most creative, balanced solution. This has given us the scope and experience to pursue both residential and commercial work of varying scale, character and types. Our portfolio includes work as divergent as historic renovations, corporate offices and custom homes, often very different in architectural style, but representative of client preferences, and needs.
Over the intervening years the practice has grown to include projects in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Montana and California. Our technical abilities have also grown to include CAD 2D and 3D modeling. Still, we enjoy and value the core aspect of working with individuals to realize their visions in a timely and efficient manner.
